Google set to bring Android Games to Windows PCs

Google is finally bringing Android games to Windows PCs. The company will launch a Google Play Games app in 2022. This will bring Android games to Windows PCs, laptops, and tablets. Google teased the announcement during The Game Awards 2021 without giving further technical details.

Google will be using its software to run the app and offer both emulated Android titles and games that run natively on Windows. The app will be made available to both Windows 10 and 11. Previously, users had to rely on Android emulator softwares like Bluestacks to play mobile games on PC.

“Google Play has helped billions of people find and play their favorite games across multiple platforms, including on mobile, tablets and ChromeOS. Starting in 2022, players will be able to experience their favorite Google Play games on more devices: seamlessly switching between a phone, tablet, Chromebook, and soon, Windows PCs. This Google built product brings the best of Google Play Games to more laptops and desktops, and we are thrilled to expand our platform for players to enjoy their favorite Android games even more. We’ll have more to share soon!”

Google has yet to release any specific details regarding the app. Yet, according to the company’s “Games Future” presentation, they plan to bring Android apps to Mac. It seems the company will start this by getting the best 100-125 Android games to PC and later scaling it to a thousand games.

The app will most likely be cross-platform, allowing users to move back and forth seamlessly from mobile to PC. Google’s ultimate objective is to let players’ users play on any screen. This includes smartphones, tablets, desktops, smart displays, and even TVs.
