How to delete a comment on Instagram

Deleting Instagram comments is easy and you can do it from your cell phone, tablet or browser.

You may want to delete a comment from someone else on your Instagram post, and here we will see how to delete comments from your iPhone, Android and in the browser.

Sometimes we make comments that we later regret, or accidentally write something that you prefer to undo. Perhaps you answered without thinking, were very emotional, or wrote with misspellings. The truth is that if you need it, you can delete comments from Instagram , your own or from other people.

#1. Delete an Instagram comment on iPhone and Android

Open the Instagram application on your iPhone or Android device and find the post you are going to delete. You can also go to the Notifications section to find the recent comments they have left on your post.

Once in the publication, click on Comments (speech bubble icon) to see all the comments on it.

Then find the comment you want to delete, be it your own or someone else’s.

If you’re on an iPhone, swipe left on the comment to display options, here tap the Trash icon to delete the comment.

If you are using an Android phone, press and hold the comment to select it.

Then, press the Trash icon on the top toolbar to delete the comment.

You will see a banner at the top of the screen informing you that the comment has been removed. If you regret deleting the comment, you have a few seconds to press the Undo button to restore the comment.

#2. Delete an Instagram comment in the browser

The Instagram website to use in the browser on your computer has been continually improving. If you prefer, you can also delete an Instagram comment from the website.

Open the  Instagram website  in your browser, and then click on a post to expand it.

Then you will see the Comments section on the right side. Find the comment you want to delete and hover over it, then click on the three dots icon and choose the Delete option .

The comment will be instantly removed from the post.

If you want to delete an Instagram comment, you don’t have to worry about the other person noticing. Deleting the message doesn’t send any notification to anyone, so don’t worry about it. Unless that person is just going to look for that comment, they will never find out that you have deleted it.

How to disable comments on Instagram?

If you want to go further and deactivate comments on Instagram in your publications, you should know that you can only do it in each post individually. Disabling comments is a good option if you don’t want your followers or the general public to be able to reply to a specific post.

To deactivate comments on a post that you are going to publish:

• Open the Instagram application on your phone.
• Press the photo or video that you are going to share from your phone or tablet, select the filter and press Next.
• Now slide the screen down and press Advanced settingsat the bottom of the screen.
• Below the Commentssection , toggle the switch next to Turn off comments .
• To conclude, press the backbutton in the upper left corner of the screen, and post your photo and video normally by pressing the Share button .

To disable comments on a post you’ve already shared:

• Open the application and go to your Instagram profile.
• Tap on the photo or video that you want to remove the comments from.
• Now press the 3-dot icon in the upper right corner of the photo or video.
• Choose the option Disable comments.

Comments will be disabled for that post. You can reactivate them whenever you want by following the same steps. Instead of the option Deactivate comments you will see Activate comments.
