New World is a pirate-themed MMORPG developed and published by Amazon Games, and it has been making waves on the Steam charts since its official launch a week ago. Dodge ride and escape New World
The escape function is linked to the L-Shift key in New World. Tapping it will dodge backwards or in the direction it is currently moving. It’s a great way to get out of harm’s way quickly, though you’ll need to keep an eye on its yellow resistance bar. Once it is completely depleted, you will have to wait for it to refill before you can dodge it.
However, you may have also noticed that other players can make a literal roll to evade enemy attacks. If you’re wondering why you don’t have that capability at your disposal, it’s because of the load on your gear.
Open the character menu with the Tab key and take a look at your team loading on the left side of the screen. This is only determined by the armor pieces you wear, as well as the shield, if you are wearing one. You’ll need to get your gear load below 13g if you want to stay light, and this will allow you to roll every time you press L-Shift.
The best way to reduce the load on your equipment is to remove the shield if you are not playing a tank class or using the sword, and mainly equipping light armor. You can wear a medium shell and keep everything else light to stay under 13g, or wear a light shell and mix in some medium pieces elsewhere.
