Review of British Tier 5 Receiver Medium Tank: History of Creation, Game Characteristics, Tactical Tips

Introduction

The Matilda Black Prince is a British Tier 5 premium medium tank. There are machines that Cthulhu clearly had a hand in their appearance. Because there is nothing else to justify that apocalypse that appeared in the end. It is clear that they are trying to cram as many historical tanks into the game as possible. It doesn’t matter if they were in the project stage or in production. But some of the samples would have been better off remembered, by God. I am even ready to endure Japanese fantasies from the drawing board, but not this dull cactus. Even the original Matilda had some meaning on the fourth level, but here it is practically absent. Meet the saddest prem in this game!

Historical reference

The history of the creation of this unit was pretty standard for all British miscarriages. Suddenly, by the middle of the war, it became clear that infantry tanks, which had been riveted in thousands of parties before the war, were suddenly outdated. Yes, you understood correctly, it is not the concept that is outdated, but the machines produced according to its precepts. Therefore, it was decided to somehow modify this matter.

The main complaint of the military concerned the two-pound cannon, which in no way could penetrate the main German tanks. And just then British scientists (then they were not yet a meme) created a new six-pound weapon. Only one problem arose – it did not fit into the old shoulder strap of the tower. And what did the developers decide? Develop a new tank on a new chassis? Not guessing. TA-dah! They simply took the turret from the A27 Cavalier tank and stuck it into the Matilda’s hull .

According to other sources, the tower was not installed, but a model of the tower was assembled in order to determine the possibility of such an installation. But it is not exactly. The resulting freak frightened those around him so much that the prototype was immediately dismantled and the project was canceled. No more attempts were made to modify “Aunt Motya”, which cannot but rejoice in the light of the game implementation of “The Black Prince” .

If you dream of this …

Game characteristics

In World of Tanks, “BP” was at one time the only option for pumping the crews of the British ST branch, but times have changed now. Consider the characteristics of the tank in the context of the game:

Protection

It would seem – an infantry tank, there should be armor. Well, she is, as it were. Key word “As if”. At the fifth level, 75 mm in the forehead is about nothing. You can still catch ricochets at an angle, but otherwise … The sides are slightly worse – 70 mm hull and 64 mm turret. The rear is even sadder – 55 and 57 mm. The guards on the tracks theoretically cover from landmines and cumulative explosives, but given the simply gigantic size of the tower, it will fly over it, always and everywhere. The 610 hit point durability at least will not allow you to fold right away – a little consolation for a slow walker.

Firepower

The only thing that will comfort you is the QF 6-pdr Mk. VA . Quite a decent option for shootouts. With basic shells, it gives 110 mm of armor penetration, and with subcaliber shells – as much as 180 mm. There is practically no target that you cannot pierce. Damage is of course standard for “holes” – 75 HP. But thanks to the wild rate of fire of 26 rounds per minute, it is quite possible to pump wild potential damage in 1957 HP.

The disadvantages include mediocre accuracy – a spread of 0.41 per hundred meters, as well as tight mixing in 2.3 seconds. UVN at minus 12 degrees gives a legal opportunity to play from the tower, although it is not always profitable to shine with it. Ammunition for 55 pieces will not let the barrel cool down during the battle and this is buzzing, but there is always a risk of shooting everything and being left with the nose.

Dynamics

The saddest thing in the unit is its chassis. The 2x Leyland E165 engine produces only 190 hp. with. by 31 tons, which makes the maximum slow speed of 22 km / h. You will crawl forever, especially uphill. I feel even the Matilda will be faster when cornering. Our standard turn for infantry is 35 deg / s, although the tower rotates a little slower, at 34 deg / s. Turn the case!

Discovery and communication

British radio stations have always had good communication numbers. So WS No. 19 Special provides a good 570 meters of radio contact, which gives us the opportunity to shoot at “glare” at long distances. The view is really small for the ST – 350 meters, enough only to detect the “strands”. Stealth, despite the hump of the tower, is nevertheless there (24 percent), so it is worth improving it by purchasing camouflage – sometimes even fractions of a percent can save you.

Here is such a “tadpole”

Bleeding and equipment

The Matilda BP is a premium tank and therefore comes standard. We will highlight the details of upgrading the crew, purchasing special equipment and consumables.

There are only four tankers, so develop according to the following scheme: the commander “The Sixth Sense”, the gunner of the “Sniper”, the mechanic driver “King of the Off-Road” loading the “Desperate”. On the second level: the commander “Radio Intercept”, the gunner “Smooth turn of the turret”, the mechanic drive “Smooth move”, loading the “Intuition”. At the third level of skills, all “Repair”, because standing on a caterpillar with our slowness is like death.

Take the following special equipment: “Reinforced aiming drives”, “Rammer” and “Ventilation”. After pumping the crew, remove the fan and place the “Stereotube” to compensate for your own blindness. You can choose your own setup to suit your individual playing style. There is also improved special equipment, but it is only available for booms. If you have them, I recommend splurging on the “Adjusted Optics”, which gives 12.5 percent to the view (but not more than 445 metro), which will significantly improve your sparse view.

There is also a slot for “Pre-battle instructions” (for equipment and crew) for bonds. They are earned only in ranked battles, so only working tanks, most often rolled out of the hangar, should be pumped up with instructions. For Matilda BP, it is best to take modifiers: “Optics Calibration” (+ 2.5% to the view), “Sight adjustment” (+ 2.5% to the aiming speed), “The subtleties of the checkpoint” (improves the “Smooth ride” skill) and “No sudden movements” (improves the skill “Smooth tower rotation”).

We use the following consumables: “Manual fire extinguisher”, “Small first aid kit” and “Large repair kit” (+ 15% to repair). Since the probability of an engine fire is only 15%, the fire extinguisher can be changed to “Tea with Pudding”, which will significantly increase the characteristics of the crew.

Better to move at an angle

Tactics tips

The Matilda BP is a tank you will hate. At the same time, one cannot say that it is completely impossible to play on it. But you will clearly have options for how you can make the most of your time. If you are still stupid and purchased this premium, then below we will give tips that will at least slightly extinguish the exhaust gases from your seat.

First you need to understand – you are clearly not a Formula 1 car. Therefore, already at the start, you will have to decide on the place of the voyage. You will clearly not return back. This situation also has a positive side – while you are cutting to the front, you will clearly not merge into an ololo rush and you will have time to come up with a cunning plan. Many even refuse to go anywhere at all and remain to guard the base, hoping for a stray frag from the “fireflies”. But this is a rather passive tactic, because the victory can be obtained without you.

If you nevertheless decided to walk to the enemy, then obviously you should not arrange hand-to-hand combat. Better to slowly drive up to the second line and take a comfortable position in the bushes. The hole sucks up damage and frags quite well, shooting is moderately comfortable and non-faint. Try to put the enemy “on the harp”, so that then methodically disassemble with your allies. As soon as you are noticed, it is better to immediately change your position. Arta is very fond of such a compact and square carcass and will certainly treat her with a suitcase. And since the roof is thin, there is always a chance to boom all over the area.

To increase your survival, always become a rhombus to the enemy, try to hide most of the body behind obstacles altogether. Breed the enemy to shoot at the caterpillar, or drive out backwards at an acute angle. A tall tower, your scourge in other situations, will help you take positions inaccessible to others, such as breaches in the walls, or behind large boulders. You can also play “king of the mountains” with your UVN, but still go up the slope with your infirmity.

When you are caught in an open space, then in most cases you have a skiff. But it happens that hands are fighting against you. Then the only chance to survive is to move and shoot on the go. The stabilization of the BP is awesome, of course, but the very fact of slow movement plays on your accuracy. Gas a little at an angle to the shelling, because practice shows that it is so very difficult for you to knock down a caterpillar. Landmines will burst near, concussions and disabled devices should not bother you – this is the norm, like Malysheva’s.

Try not to leave dense groups of allies, because only in their mass will your chances of surviving grow. Firstly, they will give you a better overview, including in light. Secondly, it will always be possible to hide behind their thick backs. Thirdly, when choosing priority targets, you will clearly be at the end of the list, because who wants to spend a projectile on such a UG.

Fire on the go

An overview of the strengths and weaknesses of the tank. Outcomes

Pros:

  • Rapid fire and penetrating weapon
  • Good safety margin
  • Excellent UVV
  • Slaughter Gold
  • Top radio station
  • Often in the top

Minuses:

  • Extreme slowness
  • Armor doesn’t save
  • Ammunition is often not enough
  • Low one-time damage
  • Increased criticality of modules
  • Suffers at the fifth level

So is it worth taking Matilda BP , spending real money on it? As for me, the answer is negative. Even the same “Matilda” , quite a linear tank on the fourth level, looks much better in this regard. It may not be so hard to farm, but you will obviously have less burn from your own helplessness and worthlessness. When I took up this guide, I had no idea how much nerve I would have to spend to record a fairly standard fight. Therefore, those who also take achievements on it – great respect. In general – a tank ftopku, cacti have no place on your celebration of life.
